Affordable Opportunities
in the Borough of Metuchen

Located in the heart of Middlesex County, New Jersey lies the beautiful Borough of Metuchen. With a population of about 13,000 people, Metuchen offers a variety of benefits such as schooling for students in kindergarten through the twelfth grade, and great accessibility to New York City for commuting. The Borough has affordable opportunities in both rentals and sales.

Sales

15 one-, two, and three-bedroom affordable homes in the "to purchase" program are located in Franklin Square. All of the sales units are built, sold, and occupied. From time to time, they become available for resale. By checking the "Purchase" option on the Preliminary Application, we will put you on the waiting list to purchase a home.

Detailed information regarding specific homes, floor plans, association fees, etc., will be available as each goes on the market to be resold. Minimum incomes will be determined by the ability of the purchaser to obtain financing for the home. Neither Metuchen Borough nor Piazza & Associates provide financing. The actual terms and conditions of the purchase are negotiated with the seller or Realtor.

Rentals

Affordable rental opportunities are primarily available in Homestead Village and at 756 Middlesex Avenue. I have provided the telephone number for the respective leasing offices. You may want to contact them for information regarding floor plans for the apartments, a list of amenities, their community rules, application fees, and credit requirements. To apply for affordable apartments, please check the appropriate box(es) on the Preliminary Application.

Homestead Village: 15 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. The telephone number is 732-985-6556.

YMC Properties, LLC: 756 Middlesex Avenue: 2 two-bedroom moderate-income apartments. Interested parties may call the owner at 973-366-6775 for further information.

To become eligible for the low- and moderate- income apartments, please complete and return a Preliminary Application. We will process your application and send you a confirmation within three weeks. When apartments become available, we will contact a limited number of applicants who are on our list for the size and income category of the apartment that will be available. A final application and documentation to verify identity and income will be required and processed at that time. Since final applications are only processed when a specific apartment becomes available, we can not accommodate applicants' choice of floor plan.
